Fruit for dessert? It doesn't thrill us, either. You can reach a deeper level of satisfaction by jazzing it up with some fun flourishes. Pair banana slices or grilled peaches with one tablespoon of Nutella chocolate-hazelnut spread, heated in the microwave for a fondue-like consistency. Or dust strawberries and pineapples with a granola topping for a sweet, crunchy finish. Poach pears or apples and serve with a scoop of sorbet or low-fat vanilla bean ice cream. After a few creative twists, fruit can make the leap from the so-so to the sublime.
